Dear Members of Congress,
I urge you to pass the No Child Left Inside Act. This important piece of legislation will authorize new funding to improve environmental education in schools across the country.
I believe strongly that we must do more to get our young people outside to explore and learn about their natural world. Providing them with engaging environmental lessons will encourage them to get more involved in outdoor activities throughout their lives.
Research supports our idea that high-quality environmental instruction will increase student achievement and inspire more young people to pursue careers in science and math. Teaching students about the environment will also prepare them to be good citizens and future leaders, well-equipped to understand and overcome complicated environmental challenges that face our communities, our nation, and our planet.
This legislation is supported by the fast-growing No Child Left Inside Coalition, which has hundreds of member groups, representing tens of millions of members, from the areas of the environment, education, public health, business and outdoor recreation. We recognize the enormous value of getting kids outdoors to learn and the increasing importance of hands-on environmental education.
I urge you to support the No Child Left Inside Act.
