STOP TAR SANDS OIL IN MAINE
Share this page on FacebookShare this page on TwitterShare this page with other services

The Canadian oil and gas corporation Enbridge wants to transport the dirtiest oil on the planet – tar sands oil – from Canada through New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine, where it would be shipped from Portland Harbor for export to international markets.

The pipeline goes through many of Maine's most precious and vulnerable natural resources, including Androscoggin River, Crooked River, Casco Bay, and Sebago Lake, the source of drinking water for greater Portland.

A pipeline spill into any of these special places would be catastrophic, both environmentally and economically.

Please sign this petition opposing this project to send the strong message that Mainers do not want the risk of toxic tar sands oil spills.

Dear Enbridge Corporation,

As Mainers deeply committed to protecting our environment, we are strongly opposed to your plan to pump the dirtiest oil on the planet –tar sands oil –through the existing "Trailbreaker" pipeline through Maine.

We urge you to drop this risky and dangerous proposal.
