Voice Your Support for the Bowers Wind Project!
Maine’s Department of Environmental Protection will soon decide whether to approve the 16-turbine, 48-megawatt Bowers Wind Project in Penobscot and Washington Counties.
After careful review of the project application, Sierra Club Maine decided to support the project because it will reduce air and global warming pollution, create good local green jobs, and help to move Maine into a cleaner energy future.
The project is supported locally and statewide, including by Maine Audubon, the American Lung Association of Maine, Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine, and the Passamaquoddy Tribe, the largest landowner to the south of the project. The location of the project is a commercial timberland site that was clear-cut by previous owners and has no rare, endangered, or threatened species.
