Take Action: Say No to Supporting International Coal
Why in the world is the U.S. State Department supporting efforts to build an unnecessary, expensive, and dirty coal plant in a tiny eastern European country? That's the question we are asking of the State Department, which is behind a World Bank program to build a new dirty coal plant in Kosovo. If this coal plant is built, it will lock in Kosovo to dirty coal for generations to come. The State Department needs to get serious about making the United States a leader in clean energy and fighting global climate change. That means recognizing that this dirty coal plant is the wrong solution for Kosovo. Tell the State Department to say NO to dirty coal in Kosovo. |

Take Action: Support the Healthy Kids Outdoors Act
Today's youth are growing up indoors. We need to reconnect our kids with nature and the great outdoors. The Healthy Kids Outdoors Act will help improve our children's health, support economic growth, and strengthen the future of conservation in America by reconnecting children, youth, and families with the natural world. Urge your representative to support the Healthy Kids Outdoors Act so states can create strategies to get our kids active, healthy, and outdoors. |

Grassroots Activism: Saying Thanks to the EPA
A crowd of Minnesotans gathered outside the Environmental Protection Agency office in Duluth last week to thank the agency for issuing strong new mercury pollution safeguards in December. They presented a large thank you card signed by local Duluthians and a banner made by Girl Scout Troop 12965. In December, the EPA finalized strong public health safeguards to limit mercury and other toxic pollution from coal power plants. Learn more about the event on Scrapbook. |
