The opposition to TransCanada's proposed Keystone XL tar sands oil pipeline is heating up -- in spite of the State Department's just-released endorsement of the massive polluting project. Outdoor Benefits: National Forests Provide Big Economic Boosts
Recreational activities on national forests and grasslands contribute $14.5 billion annually to the U.S. economy, according to a new report from the U.S. Forest Service. The report also notes that national forests attracted 170.8 million recreational visitors and sustained approximately 223,000 jobs in rural communities this past year. Outdoor groups responded with a call for greater protection of our national lands. |
