Oil Spill: Exxon Pipeline Ruptures Along Yellowstone River
An Exxon oil pipeline ruptured in Montana over the weekend, sending at least 42,000 gallons of oil into the Yellowstone River and onto the riverbanks, and forcing residents downstream to evacuate. "Unfortunately, (this) Exxon oil pipeline burst is just another incident in a long string of disasters caused by Big Oil - reminding us again why we need to move beyond oil and end its stranglehold on our nation once and for all," said Michael Brune, Sierra Club Executive Director. The land of Sierra Club Montana staffer Mike Scott has been affected, and he and his wife (who works for the National Wildlife Federation) are working to organize their neighbors. |
