Today our forests face new threats, including climate change. The Forest Service is currently gathering input on updated standards for planning how the nation’s forests are used and protected. For the first time, preparing forests for a rapidly changing climate is part of the planning. However, baseline protections and clear requirements are needed to ensure that climate smart ideas result in action on the ground. Tell the Forest Service that more detailed guidance is needed in the forest management plan. |
