"[I'm] not opposed to industry. [I'm] opposed to dirty industry." - Allison Sliva, activist fighting the proposed White Stallion coal plant in Texas 1. Take Action: Protect the EPA |

1) Take Action: Protect the EPA In February, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a funding bill, or Continuing Resolution, that puts the health of millions of Americans at risk while doing nothing to create jobs or grow the economy. The House funding bill took aim at the Environmental Protection Agency, slashing its budget by one-third and passing amendments to severely limit the agency's ability to protect the health and safety of Americans. |

2) Take Action: Health Safeguards, Not Oil and Coal Handouts In order to boost Big Oil and Coal's already obscene profits, Representative Fred Upton introduced a bill (H.R.910), which will gut the Clean Air Act to make it easier for corporations to pollute the air we breathe. This is a bill meant to protect the corporate polluters who got Upton elected, not help our economy. But Representatives Henry Waxman and John Dingell are fighting back and asking members of the House to sign a letter opposing dangerous attempts to undermine the Clean Air Act. Call your U.S. representative and tell them to stand up to Big Oil and Coal by adding their name to the Waxman-Dingell letter. |
