"I don't think that this should ever be framed to people as, 'OK, it's time to choose: Do you want a job, or do you want a clean environment? We are not there. We are nowhere near that line, and we can have both."

1) Take Action: Protect Our Waters Developers and polluters are trying to reverse long-established protections for our streams and wetlands, endangering all of our communities and threatening the safety of our drinking water sources. The Obama administration can end the confusion over which waterways are protected and support clean water for our communities. Tell the Obama administration to support a strong EPA rule and protect our vital waters. |

2) Take Action: Don't Cut Benefits for Transit Commuters! Since 2009, hundreds of thousands of Americans have taken advantage of pretax benefits of up to $230 per month towards commuting by public transit. At the end of this year, the cap on transit benefits will fall dramatically to $120 per month. Public transit doesn't just benefit individual commuters; it improves air quality and public health, reduces congestion and helps break our addiction to oil. Urge your senator to extend tax benefits for transit commuters! |
