Poll: More Americans Believe in Global Warming
Yale and George Mason universities released a poll last week showing that public concern about global warming is once again on the rise. Check this out:
Since January, public belief that global warming is happening rose four points, to 61 percent, while belief that it is caused mostly by human activities rose three points, to 50 percent. The number of Americans who worry about global warming rose three points, to 53 percent. And the number of Americans who said that the issue is personally important to them rose five points, to 63 percent.

New Report Details Impacts of Destructive Tar Sands Industry
The Sierra Club just co-released an extensive report called "Tar Sands Invasion: How Dirty and Expensive Oil from Canada Threatens America’s New Energy Economy."
Don't let the tragic BP oil disaster convince our country to use tar sands oil -- it's even worse for our environment. For example, the mining of oil from tar sands creates three times the global warming pollution as that of conventional oil.

We've got two very interesting news articles to share with you this week. First up is a piece on Yale Environmental 360 called "Global Warming Deniers and Their Proven Strategy of Doubt:"
For years, free-market fundamentalists opposed to government regulation have sought to create doubt in the public's mind about the dangers of smoking, acid rain, and ozone depletion. Now they have turned those same tactics on the issue of global warming and on climate scientists, with significant success.
Secondly, be sure to also read this article from the Associated Press called "Scientists Develop Tech to Track Carbon Dioxide," which covers a new technology that can track global warming pollution underground that could be a key to carbon capture and sequestration.
