1) Take Action: Protect Tongass National Forest
Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) has introduced a highly controversial bill that would transfer approximately 70,000 high value acres of the Tongass National Forest to the Sealaska Native Corporation. This proposal would drastically re-write a longstanding agreement with Sealaska and privatize some of the best wildlife habitat, undeveloped coves, bays, and recreational areas in the Tongass National Forest.
Call your Senators today and urge them to oppose any efforts to privatize the Tongass.
2) Take Action: Support America's Commitment to Clean Water Act
Developers and polluters are trying to reverse long-established protections for our streams and wetlands, endangering all of our communities. Representative Jim Oberstar has introduced a new bill, America’s Commitment to Clean Water Act, to end the confusion over which waterways are protected and reaffirm the broad scope of the Clean Water Act that has existed for more than three decades.
The House of Representatives must strengthen and pass this bill quickly to prevent the pollution and loss of more of America’s waters.
Tell your Representative today that now is the time to support clean water!
