Help Stop the Attack on the Clean Air Act
Just last month, President Obama's Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) declared that global warming pollution endangers human health and welfare, and announced plans to limit emissions from big polluters. Now this plan is under attack in Congress by Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and other friends of Big Coal and Oil.
Senator Murkowski has introduced a resolution under the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to formally "disapprove" of the EPA's recent ruling that carbon dioxide pollution endangers public health and human welfare. Her resolution threatens to block the EPA's ability to protect the public's health and safety by enforcing limits on global warming pollution under the Clean Air Act -- limits reaffirmed by the Supreme Court almost three years ago.

Global Warming: Giving Up Meat?
Have you been reading along with our Sierra Club Staffer Brian Foley as he quits meat? That's right, Brian, who is the Climate Crossroads curator (and a Conan sympathizer, he wanted to add) is blogging on Climate Crossroads about his efforts to be a vegetarian in order to fight global warming, among other reasons.
"Ever since Crossroads began, I struggled with finding ways to reduce my carbon emissions," said Foley. "I live on a big hill, so I don't bike. I live in an apartment, so I don't garden. I looked at my diet and started to go to the farmers' market more often. I thought quitting meat would be impossible for someone like me.
"But last year I decided to have a veggie day one day a week. After achieving that -- and after driving by the Harris Ranch feedlot in Fresno County, which was the most depressing thing I've ever seen -- I knew I could do it. I grew up with a meat-eating mentality, so the idea of knowing I could do it was a big realization."
Brian's blog posts have stirred up quite the discussion, too! Check out part 1, part 2, and part 3. Have you quit meat to help fight global warming?
