These national treasures were all permanently
protected as national monuments by a sitting President, and that’s why we are
able to enjoy them today.
Now, with Congress so broken, the power that President Obama has to name new national monuments is more important than ever. He has already taken steps in the right
direction by naming nine new national monuments -- but there's more to do.
