Big Coal CEO Shaun McCutcheon is demanding the right to donate as much as he wants in an election cycle -- and the top Senate Republican, Mitch McConnell, is onboard, eager for all that coal cash.
If they win, a small band of corporate polluters will be able to buy more elections than ever before.
As the U.S. solicitor general said, that would mean "Less than 500 people can fund the whole shooting match. The government will be run of, by, and for those 500 people."
But there is good news: Several leaders in Congress are standing up and fighting back. From overturning Citizens United to demanding more disclosure, it's up to us to show them they have grassroots support.
