Please Oppose ODEC's Surry Coal Plant

Dear  [Decision Maker],

The Old Dominion Electric Cooperative is proposing to build Virginia's largest coal-fired power plant in nearby Surry County. This massive $6 billion coal plant poses a serious public health risk for everyone in the Hampton Roads area.

It is critical that Hampton City Council take action to oppose the proposed coal plant. There is a cleaner path forward for ODEC. Energy efficiency measures compared to building new power plants creates thousands more jobs statewide, boosts Virginia's economy by hundreds of millions of dollars annually, and saves consumers money. Virginia also has vast renewable energy potential, including a planned development of at least 2,400 megawatts of wind power off Virginia's coast.

Very truly yours,
