On September 24th, Governor Shumlin spoke to a crowd of 1,500 about the need for a clean energy future for Vermont. Among the other speakers was Luke Willard, of the Nulhegan Abenaki Tribe. You can watch his speech on the right.

Willard spoke about "the Vermont way." We want to make sure Governor Shumlin is totally committed to the Vermont Way -- to a clean energy future, green jobs for Vermonters and community forests.

Send a message to the Governor today, and ask him to support 100% renewable energy, green jobs for Vermonters and community forests. By sending this message, you will also be commenting in favor of a strong energy plan for Vermont.

Clean Energy, Green Jobs and Community Forests for VT!

Dear Governor Shumlin,

I would like to see all of our in-state energy needs met by green renewable energy sources as soon as possible.

The jobs created by renewable energy projects should be done, at livable wage rates, by local workers -- ideally by union workers. This way we can build our economic future while we build our clean energy future -- and put Vermonters back to work!

I also support the establishment of town and tribal conservation forests as a way to fight climate change through carbon sequestration. Such community forests would also provide social, economic, and cultural benefits to their communities. They can provide people with firewood, generate local public revenue through sustainable forestry, maintain sustainable logging jobs, and serve as a public place to hunt and fish.

Please continue to be an environmental leader and champion.

Sincerely,
