Tell GenOn CEO Edward R. Muller, We Want a Coal Free Metro DC for the Holidays!

solar panel, bow, clean energy, presentThe Potomac River Coal Plant in Alexandria is an aging facility that has long harmed the health of this community while pouring tons of global warming pollution into the atmosphere for nearly half a century. It is time this outdated and dirty coal plant was retired!

Imagine a coal free future for Metro DC and what it could mean for the waters of the Potomac River; as a gateway to the City of Alexandria; or as a symbol of a new era to the politicians in Washington DC! For nearly a decade we have worked tirelessly with the City of Alexandria to make this vision a reality.

It's time we move towards a clean energy future. Tell GenOn you want a Coal Free Metro DC for the holidays!

Retire the Potomac River Coal Plant

Dear Mr. Muller,

I am writing to ask that you replace the power from some of the oldest and dirtiest coal plants in your fleet with clean energy.

Investing in competitive clean energy sources such as wind and solar instead of coal will reduce health risks, make GenOn a leading profitable power provider, and creates good-paying jobs and benefits for communities in the Metro DC area.

I ask that you meet with our Sierra Club organizers and volunteers at the start of this new year to define how to make this vision a reality.

Wishing for a Clean Energy Future,
