Ask Your State Leaders to Vote for Clean Energy

A recent vote in the House of Representatives revealed forty-four of our state leaders share our vision for a clean energy future for KS.

Unfortunately, your state representative is not one of these 44. Your leader voted YES on a bill that would allow to new coal-fired power plants to be built in Kansas. Please urge them to reconsider their stance.

Please reconsider your position on HB 2014

Dear [Decision Maker],

I'm writing you in regards to HB 2014. I was disappointed to learn you voted in support of this legislation. I have concerns that this legislation was crafted to allow Sunflower Electric to circumvent KDHE's objections to their Holcomb expansion.

This debate has overwhelmed too much of our legislative session, and we should allow the courts to settle this dispute.

If passed, this legislation would handicap the Secretary of KDHE's ability to protect the health and environment of Kansas. The so-called "green provisions" in the bill would not begin to outweigh the harm done by allowing two large coal plants to be built and pollute for the next 50-75 years. Our country is turning away from coal and embracing clean, renewable energy. We should do the same in Kansas.

Sincerely,
