Support the historic Totem Pole Journey by taking action today!

The mining, transport and burning of coal and oil threaten the lands, waters, resources and human health of all of us who live from the prairie to the Pacific Northwest. For the Tribes of the Northwest, even more is at stake.

This month, members of the Lummi Community will once again embark on a totem-pole journey called 'Our Shared Responsibility - the Land, the Waters, the People'. The purpose of this journey is to call attention to the proposed shipment of an unprecedented volume of coal and oil from the American heartland to the Pacific Coast.

Ambre Energy's Morrow Pacific coal export project would send thousands of dirty coal barges down Columbia River every year. Ambre's project would destroy fishing sites that indigenous people have fished for generations. In fact, the entire scenic stretch of the Columbia River from the Port of Morrow to Port Westward would be impacted by this dangerous proposal. Moreover, by opening up more export capacity on the West Coast, the Ambre project could lead to more open pit mining in the Powder River Basin.

Help communities from the prairie to the Pacific Northwest by telling Oregon Dept. of State Lands Director Mary Abrams to reject Ambre Energy's coal exports permit.
