Don't waste money on a study for Poseidon water

WaterLogo200.GIFThere is new action on the Poseidon Huntington Beach desalination project that needs your immediate attention.

The Orange County Water District (OCWD) will vote on whether to spend $150,000 of your money to move forward with a study of the costs to purchase the full capacity of the proposed Poseidon project.

A decision not to go forward with the study would kill the project, and that is what we want.  But we need to carry this message to the OCWD board members.

Please sign this petition asking OCWD not to move forward with a wasteful study of buying Poseidon's water.

Don't fund a study for Poseidon water

Dear [Decision Maker],

There is no reason to waste ratepayer money to study a project that would provide expensive and unnecessary water.

The Orange County Water District (OCWD) should acknowledge what local cities and other area water suppliers have already concluded -- desalinated water from Poseidon is just too harmful to the environment and the economy!

Vote no on moving forward with this study.

If built, the environmentally destructive Poseidon Huntington Beach Desalination Plant will increase energy use and greenhouse gasses, degrade water quality and fish stocks and privatize part of our water supply. Where is the benefit to Orange County?
