Next Steps on Climate for Warner, Kaine and McAuliffe

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is preparing to set limits on the amount of carbon pollution that can be released by dirty power plants for the first time ever. We have learned from the White House that on June 2nd, President Obama and U.S. EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy will stand together to make this historic announcement.

Please send a letter to Virginia’s top political leaders: Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, and Governor Terry McAuliffe, urging them to stand with us and support limits on carbon pollution to protect our environment and future generations.

If our elected leaders don’t hear from us, they may cave to the pressure of big polluters. As our representatives, they need to know that Virginians care about the climate and are standing together on this critical issue.

Thank You and Next Steps

Dear [Decision Maker],

First, I want to thank you for recognizing that climate change is a real threat to our health, economy, and overall quality of life. The carbon pollution already in the atmosphere is expected to raise sea-levels along our Virginia coast by as much as a meter or more.

For these reasons, I urge you to support limits on carbon pollution from fossil fueled power plants. It is time for our energy industries to innovate and allow cleaner energy technologies to provide for our needs. We have the solutions now, we just need to use them. Please express your public support for limits on carbon pollution from power plants right away. We need to hear from you on this vital issue.

Thank you,
