Momentum for America's Arctic!

February was a very good month for America's Arctic. 11 million acres of Arctic wild lands in Western Alaska were protected, allowing the breathtaking caribou herd to birth their young in peace. Tens of thousands of people converged on the White House to demand that the President move away from oil drilling and towards clean energy solutions. Shell Oil finally announced that it would not be able to drill in the Polar Bear Seas in 2013.

We've won some key protections for America's Arctic in the last month, but there's so much more to do. Right now, President Obama and Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar are deciding whether or not to recommend that the coastal plain of the Arctic Refuge -- another crucial area for Alaska’s caribou, polar bears and birds -- be protected permanently.  And they need to know that Americans want them to keep drill ships out of the Polar Bear Seas.

Send a message to President Obama and Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar. Tell them that they must continue this winning streak for America’s Arctic:
