Urge your senator to vote NO on state takeover of federal public lands

Coal-fired power plant

Senate Bill 404 claims federally administered lands in New Mexico actually belong to the state and should be claimed and administered by the state and counties. The goal is to make New Mexico rich by selling the natural resources that are currently protected by federal law and regulation.

This "land grab" bill ignores the ownership of these lands by all Americans, and similar bills have been rejected in other states as being unconstitutional. This bill is sponsored by Pat Woods, who sits on the Senate Conservation Committee.

Contact your New Mexico state senator here and ask him to vote "no":

  1. Personalize the message text with your own words; legislators consider your message more seriously when it's individualized.
